Vegetable tanned leather, because of the naturalness of its processing, tends to exalt its original characteristics, that is the small wrinkles and veins on the animal skin. For that reason the raw hides we use must be of top quality. Of course, the raw hides used by our tanneries are the discarded by-products of the food industry producing meat for human consumption.
The other important ingredient that is offered to us by nature and which distinguishes our production process from others is the tannin, used mainly in the form of powder. These are extracted from the trunk and the barks of trees such as chestnut, mimosa and argentine quebracho. The extraction of tannins occurs paying attention not to deplete the forest heritage. All products used during the leather production are recovered or properly treated prior to the disposal. In addition, our tanning area is equipped with state-of-the-art purification systems that ensure full respect for man and the environment.
Fashion and luxury of vegetable tanned leather
Vegetable tanned leather is very often considered as classic, sporty and no versatile. On the contrary, today’s master tanners have managed to offer a leather suitable for the most varied types of finished product, as well as the most extravagant demands of fashion. Of course, the uniqueness and the quality of this material lies in its naturalness and genuineness. The warm colorshades of vegetable tannins and the small wrinkles and veins on the original skin of the animal turn up on the surface with the use, creating very special effects, and tending to personalize in a unique and un-reproducible way on the finished product of every single user, as it happens to our skin. There aren’t two identical vegetable tanned leathers and neither two identical objects made with this material.
The luxury of possessing an unique and unrepeatable object. The luxury of a material produced exclusively in Tuscany, in production plants complying with the most stringent regulations on health and safety of workers in their workplaces, paying particular attention to the impact on the environment.
